Devotee can be pure By His Karmas

So how do we find our guru? How do we receive Krishna’s mercy in the form of the gurudeva? If we are sincere in our desires, Krishna will certainly bring us the guru we need. Luckily for us, there are many bona fide spiritual masters that we can easily approach today without having to leave our homes. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is the foremost teacher of devotional service, or bhakti-yoga, for the people of this age. Though He is no longer present on this planet, His written instructions and recorded words live on. In this way, Shrila Prabhupada never dies.
How do we associate with this great swami? We simply have to follow his instructions, the primary of which calls for the constant chanting of the holy names of God, “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare”, and abstention from the four pillars of sinful life: meat eating, illicit sex, gambling, and intoxication. After we steadily follow these regulations for an extended period of time, we can then take up the process of deity worship. Personal association with God is reserved for the great devotees like Shabari, but it doesn’t mean that we are left out in the cold. The deity is the worshipable form of the Lord, hence it is known as the archa vigraha. If we treat the archa-murti with the same love and respect that Shabari showed to Rama, we will most certainly be granted the same benediction of salvation.

लीला-पुरुषोत्तम हैं श्रीकृष्ण

श्रीकृष्ण ने जन्म के साथ ही लीला आरंभ कर दी थी और जीवन-भर लोकहित में लीलाएं करते रहे..। यही कारण है कि वह बन गए लीला पुरुषोत्तम। बता रहे हैं डॉ. अतुल टण्डन..
श्रीराम एवं श्रीकृष्ण दोनों ही भगवान विष्णु के अवतार माने गए हैं, परंतु दोनों की प्रकृति और आचरण में काफी भिन्नता है। श्रीराम ने कठिन से कठिन परिस्थिति में भी मर्यादा का अतिक्रमण नहीं किया। वे 'मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम' कहलाए। वहींश्रीकृष्ण का अवतरण विपरीत परिस्थितियों में हुआ। माता देवकी और पिता वसुदेव अत्याचारी कंस के कारागार में बंदी थे। अपने अविर्भाव से स्वधाम-गमन तक श्रीकृष्ण ने इतनी विविधता के साथ तमाम लीलाएं कीं कि वे बन गए 'लीला-पुरुषोत्तम'।
अनंत लीला-विलास
पौराणिक ग्रंथों व कथाओं में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण का लीला-विलास अनंत है। जन्म लेते ही चतुर्भुज-रूप में प्रकट होकर फिर छोटा बालक बन जाना, कारागार के पहरेदारों का सो जाना तथा पिता वसुदेवजी की हथकड़ी-बेड़ी एवं दरवाजों का स्वयं खुल जाना, यमुना में बाढ़ आने पर भी रातोंरात बालक श्रीकृष्ण का गोकुल पहुंच जाना, सामान्य बातें नहीं थीं।
अपनी छठी के दिन ही राक्षसी पूतना का शिशु श्रीकृष्ण ने संहार कर दिया। यशोदा माता को मुख के अंदर ब्रह्मांड दिखलाना, ब्रह्माजी को सबक सिखाने के लिए गोप-बालक और बछड़ों की नवीन सृष्टि करना, अक्रूर जी को मार्ग और जल के अंदर एक ही साथ दोनों जगह एक ही रूप में दर्शन देना तथा बालकृष्ण द्वारा काकासुर की गर्दन मरोड़कर उसे फेंक देना आश्चर्यजनक था। बचपन से ही श्रीकृष्ण ने अपनी बाललीला में कंस द्वारा भेजे गए राक्षसों का वध करना शुरू कर दिया। तृणावर्त, केशी, अरिष्टासुर, बकासुर, प्रलंबासुर, धेनुकासुर जैसे बलवान राक्षसों को उन्होंने मार डाला। हयासुर, नरक, जंभ, पीठ, मुर आदि असुरों का भी उन्होंने ही संहार किया। बाल्यावस्था में ही कालिया नाग के सहस्र फणों पर नृत्य करके उसे यमुना जी से भगा दिया। मात्र सात वर्ष की अवस्था में गिरिराज गोव‌र्द्धन को अपने बाएं हाथ की छोटी अंगुली पर धारण करके मूसलाधार वर्षा से ब्रजवासियों की रक्षा की तथा देवराज इंद्र का घमंड चूर कर डाला।
चीरहरण-लीला के माध्यम से श्रीकृष्ण (ब्रह्म) ने गोपियों (जीवात्माओं) को यह समझा दिया कि जब तक जीव अज्ञान के आवरण में रहेगा, तब तक परमात्मा से उसका मिलन न हो सकेगा। इस लीला का एक अन्य अभिप्राय जीव का देहाभिमान समाप्त करना है। श्रीकृष्ण की रासलीला का भी बड़ा गूढ़ अर्थ है। इसमें भोग-विलास जरा-सा भी नहीं है। रासलीला करके उन्होंने यह संकेत कर दिया कि जब जीव गोपी-भाव धारण करके अपना सर्वस्व श्रीकृष्ण (ईश्वर) को समर्पित कर देता है, तब वह उन सर्वेश्वर का कृपापात्र बन जाता है।
मथुरा में भी लीला
मथुरा लौटकर श्रीकृष्ण ने क्रूर कंस का वध करके माता-पिता को कारागार से मुक्त कराया। माता देवकी के आग्रह पर उन्होंने कंस के द्वारा मारे गए उनके छह पुत्रों को उनसे पुन: मिलवाया। गुरु संदीपनि मुनि के मृत पुत्र को यमलोक से लाकर उसे वापस सौंप दिया। श्रीकृष्ण के अतिरिक्त ऐसे असंभव कार्यो को आज तक कोई अन्य संभव नहीं कर पाया। जरासंध के वध के पीछे भी श्रीकृष्ण की ही लीला थी, जब उन्होंने ब्रज में सोते हुए पुरवासियों को सहसा द्वारका पहुंचा दिया। इसी तरह जब पांडव द्यूतक्रीड़ा में सब कुछ हार गए, तब दु:शासन द्रौपदी को राजसभा के बीच खींच लाया और चीरहरण करने लगा। द्रौपदी की पुकार सुनकर श्रीकृष्ण ने उसके सम्मान की रक्षा की लीला रची।
महाभारत के युद्ध में पांडव श्रीकृष्ण की लीला के कारण ही विजयी हुए। युद्ध के पूर्व किंक‌र्त्तव्यविमूढ़ अर्जुन को अपना विराट रूप दिखाकर तथा गीता सुनाकर श्रीकृष्ण ने न सिर्फ उनका मनोबल बढ़ाया, बल्कि सारथी बनकर उनकी विजय का मार्ग भी प्रशस्त किया। पांडव-वंश की रक्षा करने के उद्देश्य से अभिमन्यु की पत्नी उत्तरा के पुत्र को जीवन-दान दिया। श्रीमद्भागवत महापुराण में लिखा है कि भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने जिस देह से एक सौ पच्चीस वर्ष तक लोकहित में विविध लीलाएं कीं, वह देह भी अंत में किसी को नहीं मिली।
श्रीकृष्ण की प्रत्येक लीला हमें जीवन जीने की कला सिखाती है। जगद्गुरु बनकर श्रीकृष्ण ने अर्जुन को संबोधित करते हुए हमें 'गीता' के रूप में जो उपदेश दिए हैं, वे सदा समाज का मार्गदर्शन करते रहेंगे। वे नि:सदेह लीला-पुरुषोत्तम ही हैं। यही कारण है कि श्रीकृष्ण की स्तुति में कहा गया है-
नमो देवादिदेवाय कृष्णाय परमात्मने। परित्राणाय भक्तानां लीलया वपुधारिणे। अर्थात 'हे देवताओं में श्रेष्ठ श्रीकृष्ण, आप साक्षात् परमात्मा हैं। भक्तों के रक्षार्थ लीलाएं करने हेतु आप शरीर (अवतार) ग्रहण करते हैं।'

स्कंधपुराण के अंवतिका खंड में मंगल ग्रह ही उत्पत्ति से जुड़ी रोचक कथा मिलती है कि अंधाकासुर नामक दैत्य ने शिव से वरदान पाया था कि उसकी रक्त की बूंदों से नित नए दैत्य जन्म लेते रहेंगे। इन दैत्यों के अत्याचार से त्रस्त जनता ने शिव की आराधना की। तब शिव शंभु और दैत्य अंधाकासुर के बीच घनघोर युद्ध हुआ।

ताकतवर दैत्य से लड़ते हुए शिवजी के पसीने की बूंदें धरती पर गिरीं, जिससे धरती दो भागों में फट गई और मंगल ग्रह की उत्पत्ति हुई। शिवजी के वारों से घायल दैत्य का सारा लहू इस नए ग्रह में मिल गया, जिससे मंगल ग्रह की भूमि लाल हो गई। दैत्य का विनाश हुआ और शिवजी ने इस नए ग्रह को पृथ्वी से अलग कर ब्रह्मांड में फेंक दिया। इस दंतकथा के कारण जिन लोगों की पत्रिका में मंगल भारी होता है, वह उसे शांत करवाने के लिए इस मंदिर में दर्शन और पूजा-अर्चना के लिए आते हैं। इस मंदिर में मंगल को शिव का ही स्वरूप दिया गया है।

पंडित दिप्तेश दुबे के अनुसार इसी जगह से भूमि पुत्र मंगल ग्रह की उत्पत्ति हुई है और कहीं से नहीं। इसीलिए यहां पर मंगल दोष की शांति की जाती है। दही और भात से यहां मंगल ग्रह की पूजा की जाती है। लाल वस्त्र, गेहूं, गुड, तांबा और कनेर के पुष्प मंगल ग्रह की ये पांच वस्तुएं है जिन्हें दान किया जाता है। मेष और वृश्चिक राशि के अधिपति स्वामी मंगल के मंगल दोष का निवारण सिर्फ यहीं किया जाता है।

मंगलनाथ के पुजारी के महंत अमर भारती ने बताया कि स्कंदपुराण में बताया गया है कि भगवान शं‍कर के द्वारा मंगल की उत्पत्ति हुई है। अंधकासुर नाम के दैत्य से शिव ने यहां युद्ध किया था, उस दौरान उनके मस्तक से भूमि पर पसीना गिरा। तो भूमि के गर्भ से एक अंगार क्षीण लिंग उत्पन्न हुआ उसमें से बालक प्रकट हुआ। बालक ने प्रण कर लिया और इस तरह अंधकासुर का नाश हुआ। जिस किसी की भी पत्रिका में मंगल दोष है तो उसका निवारण उज्जैन के मंगलनाथ के दर्शन-पूजन से हो जाता है। यह पूरे विश्व का नाभि स्थल है। यही नहीं पृथ्वी का गर्भ स्थल भी यहीं है।

ज्योतिषाचार्य मनोहर गिरि से हमने पूछा कि आखिर क्या महत्व है इस स्थान का... तो उन्होंने कहा की जिस किसी की भी कुंडली में चौथे, आठवें और बारहवें स्थान पर मंगल हो तो यहां मंगल ग्रह की शांति कराई जाती है। यहा कई बड़ी हस्तियों ने मंगल दोष का निवारण कराया है। विश्व में मंगल दोष निवारण का यही एकमात्र स्थान है।

मंगलनाथ मंदिर के पुजारी देवेंद्र तिवारी ने दूध, दही और चावल से मंगल पूजा का महत्व बताया। कर्क रेखा और मध्य रेखा यहां से ही गुजरती है।

अमेरिकी   बहनों  और भाइयों

आपके इस स्नेह्पूर्ण और जोरदार स्वागत से मेरा हृदय आपार हर्ष से भर गया है.मैं आपको दुनिया के सबसे पौराणिक भिक्षुओं कि तरफ से धन्यवाद् देता हूँ.; मैं आपको सभी धर्मों की जननी कि तरफ से धन्यवाद् देता हूँ , और मैं आपको सभी जाति-संप्रदाय के लाखों-करोड़ों हिन्दुओं कि तरफ से धन्यवाद् देता हूँ.मेरा धन्यवाद् उन वक्ताओं को भी जिन्होंने ने इस मंच से  यह कहा है कि दुनिया में शहनशीलता का विचार सुदूर पूरब के देशों से  फैला  है . मुझे गर्व है कि मैं एक ऐसे धर्म से हूँ जिसने दुनिया को शहनशीलता और  सार्वभौमिक स्वीकृति (universal acceptance) का पाठ पढाया है.हम सिर्फ  सार्वभौमिक शहनशीलता में ही विश्वास नहीं रखते बल्कि हम विश्व के सभी धर्मों को सत्य के रूप में स्वीकार करते हैं. मुझे गर्व है कि मैं एक ऐसे देश से हूँ  जिसने इस धरती के सभी देशों के  सताए गए लोगों को शरण दी है.मुझे यह बताते हुए गर्व हो रहा है कि हमने अपने हृदय में उन  इस्राइलियों के शुद्धतम स्मृतियाँ बचा कर रख्हीं हैं, जिनके मंदिरों को रोमनों ने तोड़-तोड़ कर खँडहर बना दिया, और तब उन्होंने दक्षिण भारत में शरण ली.  मुझे इस बात का गर्व है कि मैं एक ऐसे धर्म से हूँ जिसने महान पारसी देश के अवशेषों को शरण दी और अभी भी उन्हें बढ़ावा दे रहा है.

भाइयों मैं आपको एक श्लोक कि कुछ पंक्तियाँ सुनाना चाहूँगा जिसे मैंने बचपन से स्मरण  किया और दोहराया है, और जो रोज करोडो लोगो द्वारा हर दिन दोहराया जाता है." जिस तरह से विभिन्न धाराओं कि उत्पत्ति विभिन्न स्रोतों से होती है उसी प्रकार मनुष्य अपनी इच्छा के अनुरूप अलग-अलग मार्ग चुनता है, वो देखने में भले सीधा या टेढ़े-मेढ़े लगे पर सभी भगवान तक ही जाते हैं. "

वर्तमान सम्मलेन , जो कि  आज तक की सबसे पवित्र सभाओं में से है, स्वयं में गीता में  बताये  गए एक सिद्धांत का  प्रमाण है , " जो भी मुझ तक आता है ; चाहे किसी भी रूप में , मैं उस तक पहुँचता हूँ , सभी मनुष्य विभिन्न मार्गों पे संघर्ष कर रहे हैं जिसका अंत मुझ में है."  सांप्रदायिकता, कट्टरता, और इसके भयानक वंशज, हठधर्मिता लम्बे समय से प्रथ्वी को अपने शिकंजों में जकड़े हुए हैं. इन्होने पृथ्वी को हिंसा से भर दिया है , कितनी बार ही ये धरती खून से लाल हुई है , कितनी ही सभ्यताओं का विनाश हुआ है और कितने देश नष्ट हुए हैं.

अगर ये  भयानक राक्षस नहीं होते तो आज मानव समाज कहीं ज्यादा उन्नत होता. लेकिन अब उनका समय पूरा हो चूका है, मुझे पूरी उम्मीद है कि आज इस सम्मेलन का शंख नाद  सभी हठधर्मिता,हर  तरह के क्लेश  ,चाहे वो तलवार से हों या कलम से, और हर एक मनुष्य, जो एक ही लक्ष्य की तरफ बढ़ रहे हैं ; के बीच की  दुर्भावनाओं  का विनाश करेगा.

When You've Fallen and Can't Get Up

I've been impressed by the number of blog posts I've read lately that urge people not to give in to despair in these despairing times, to remember that most of us have all that we really need: our friends, our family, our health.

At the same time, I know that despite these pep talks there are people who, no matter how much they try, aren't feeling better. Despite the extra time spent recently with people who love them and care about them, they have fallen and can't get up.

Save yourself and read Bhagwat Geeta Ji

Fake Hindu swamis, sanyasis, babas, gurus and godmen thrive in a society which has not understood the true teachings of Sanatana Dharma (Hindu Religion). Therefore Hindus and other sections of the society which provide the opportunity and fertile ground for fraudsters in the guise of swamis to thrive in the name of Hinduism are equally at fault. Ignorant, miracle and fortune-seeking followers are the ones who help such fake swamis to prosper in our Hindu society.

Before Going to a Swami Read the Bhagavad Gita - the Greatest Guru

The Bhagavad Gita which narrates the essence of Hindu spirituality contains only 700 verses. There are excellent translation and commentary of Bhagavad Gita which cost less than 100 rupees. But majority of the Hindus have no time to read the 700 verses but spend thousands of rupees, hard earned money, energy and time visiting ashrams and spiritual centers of such fake babas and gurus.

If you make this an issue, immediately comes the answer, Bhagavad Gita is hard to digest for common people like us, we are ignorant.

It is for the common people that the learned and holy men of yesteryears have translated the Gita into all regional languages. They have provided excellent translations and have interpreted the great dialogue between Arjuna and Krishna into the simplest language.

Reading and understanding the Bhagavad Gita is not the real issue. If one has time and patience this can be easily achieved.

The real issue is that Gita doesn’t talk about methods to become super rich overnight. Neither do Gita have mantras to find treasures hidden underground or to get promotions or provide miracle cure to diseases. Gita also does not recommend pujas to destroy your enemies. And above all Gita does not predict the future.

Gita only teaches to you to attain Moksha and how to live a life of bliss on earth.

But the fake swamis and godmen only talk about future, money and predictions, pujas and innumerable homams to cure diseases where medical science has failed. Sadly, this is what many Hindus want to hear.

Majority of Hindus who go after Swamis are fortune seekers

Daily we get to hear about such fake swamis and their notorious activities – which include rape, illicit relationships, amassing wealth through dishonorable means – but this has not deterred many Hindus from approaching fraudsters in the guise of Swami. Why?

Both the fake Godmen, his followers and those who go after such swamis are fortune seekers. Godmen is using religion to become rich and conduct other antisocial activities. Followers are fortune seekers who want the help of an outside agency to reach God and bribe God and amass wealth, cure diseases, solve social problems and above all know the future.

The True Sanyasi

Shri Krishna never fought for Arjuna in the Mahabharata. Arjuna had to do all the fighting in Kurukshetra. Krishna is always there to remind us the Truth and give sane advice. The ultimate truth is that we have to do our work and no God will come to do it. Sadly this is not acceptable to many.

A true Sanyasi will never advertise. He/She is like a flower. People reach them following the fragrance. They will not even bother to talk to fortune-seekers. Silence is their best weapon which frustrate most fortune seekers in minutes. They might open up the knowledge treasure to a genuine seeker whom a true Sanyasi will easily identify – just like Ramakrishna identified Vivekananda.

A true sanyasi lives in the present - he will not have possessions - he might not even have the money to buy his next meal.

There is nothing new to say

Sanyasi and Godmen does not say anything new. Everything is found in the Hindu scriptures. All their words are borrowed from the Upanishads, Gita, Ramayana, Yoga Vasishta and Mahabharata. All these Holy Scriptures are readily available in shops and now on the internet for free. Pick any of these Holy Scriptures and read a few pages daily. Soon we will realize the futility of going to such fake gurus.

Hinduism believes in individual self realization and not borrowed or rented or bought self realization. Always remember the Brahman (God or Supreme Truth) that resides in the most respected guru or spiritual leader also resides in us. The only difference is that we have not bothered to realize it.

If we are falling into the trap of fake Sanyasis and Godmen, it is our fault.

And if you find that a swami is fake, never hesitate to report it to the authorities and write about it on the internet. Such fake swamis and God men should not find protection in Hindu religion.

Fast of Puranmasi (Hare krishna)

Purnima or Poornima is an auspicious day in Hinduism. Poornima is the full moon day and many important rituals and festivals takes place on full moon day. In South India, the day is known as Pournami. Upvaas (Fasting) is observed on this day by some people.

The Purnima Fasting begins at Sunrise and ends after sighting the Moon. Most people only take food after seeing the moon or after evening prayers.

In some places in South India, the Pournami Vratam is dedicated to Devi, Mother Goddess.

Special pujas are performed in temples on Poornima day including the Pournami Pooja.

Satyanarayana or Satya Narayana Puja is another important Pooja performed on the Purnima day.

When Life Becomes Too much Painful

No one loves the tears of pain. But when tears flow down what can be done more. It symbolizes the pain. It is not our desire but just opposite case. In fact everyone is searching for happiness. But in direct way or indirect way we are facing the problem. We try to keep pain far away us but pain never leaves us. Whatever we do pain follows there. Wheather we play or eat, sing or dance , read or write, see movie or listen jokes pain never leaves us. Wheater it is the matter of money or not of that , wheather it is the matter of time or not  or wheater it may be we feel pain in any way. It seems as if it is the universal law. We may think that my pain is too much  in the world but truth is the same with another person also. He/she also may think the same that he/she faces the pain most. It is fact . Nobody can deny it. But we feel much more pain sometime. In some turning of the life we feel as if pain is exceeding its limit . We see no point in living and even try for suicide. It becomes too hard. We see as if tears are  not the tear is not the tear but the great river. We find ourself drowned in the sea of tear. That is actually the hopeless case. We see that only during such condition most of the persons pray with God . Yes, it is fact not the job. Please ask with yourself sincerely wheather it is true or not. Obviously  , it is true. It holds true.

What happens when  Life Becomes Too Painful?

Actually when life becomes too painful we cry, go mad and our life redirects towards disorder. Actually in this case no painkiller medicines are useful in this stage. We curse ourself . Due to too much pain we become hopeless and finally see no point in living . Thus finally we step forward for suiciding. This is bitter truth.

Why too much pain?

Pain is the basic feather of this world. Material nature is responsible for pain. Scriptures describe that This Material World is the place of pain and sorrow . True happiness doesnot exist here. In overall , greatest pains of the world are : Birth , Disease, Old Age and Death . We may not believe this fact immediately but if we analyze seriously we reach in this conclusion. It is not one time process it repeats time and again since it is the cycle. In this cycle of birth and death we feel various pains but main problems are these things. One may say why so ? But it is the  fact which can not be changed. what can be done for this . Pain is the quality of material world just like heat is the quality of fire. And furthermore this is the result of our previous misdeeds. Our main mistake is that we left our spiritual world and select this material world by misusing our independence. All things that are happening in our life are the result of our previous activities. Pain is the nature of this world but degree of pain is directly related with the level of our misdeeds. If we continue those misdeeds at this time also it is sure that we will be in such pain in future also.

Since fish can not be happy and out of pain outside the water we can not happy and out of pain outside our actual home which is located at spiritual sky. Intensity of pain increases if we forget our home and our original house just like the person outside own house feels too much difficulty. It does not depens on the material advancement and facilities. How much facilities fish gets outside water can not make it happy thus in spite of too much facilities and physical advancement USA is ranking top in suicide rate.

Remedy for this problem

It is already explained. One  and only way to get rid off this problem is to regain our original feature. We have to regain our original consciousness. We have to make way to go back to Godhead. We have to spiritualize our life sincerely.

If God existed , we would be able to see him.

•  God exists but to see him you needs to be qualified. How do you expect to see electron in the atom without having scientific knowledge. You have to study science thoroughly from school, college , university or other. And someone who who knows science should guide you to see that electron exists. Similarly to see God you have to be qualified first and who has seen God should guide you first.

 Without seeing we can not believe God;

• Have you ever seen your intelligence? Have you ever seen infrared present before you? Have you ever seen your consciousness? Still you believe that those things exists. At the same time you see water in desert but there is no water. Thus only seeing the things is not the proof actually. How unlimited God , you expect to see ,with your limited eyes. If you want to see God firstly you should be invested with divine vision. Divine vision can be given to you by qualified being. God has given that power to his devotees. So you should sincerely get such divine vision from the devotees of lord; accepting bona fide person as the spiritual teacher. No other ways are there than doing this.

Why Krishna is God not other?

 God means supreme being. Supreme being means he should be most powerful and most opulent. In another word God means he should be beyond all limitations and should be perfect in every way. If he is not so how can he be God. Since supreme being can be only one  there should not be any duality. Which means that there can be only one God not two. God is described as the creator of the world, protector of the world and finally the destroyer also. God is described as omnipresent and omnipotent being.

Krishna is the name of God according to the revealed scriptures. हिंदू 'प्रलय' की धारणा सच?

प्रलय शब्द का जिक्र लगभग हर धर्म के ग्रंथों में मिलता है। सभी धर्मों की प्रलय संबंधी धारणाएं अलग-अलग है। इन धारणाओं में कितनी सच्चाई है यह हम नहीं जानते। यहां प्रस्तुत है हिंदू धर्म अनुसार प्रलय की धारणा।

प्रलय का अर्थ होता है संसार का अपने मूल कारण प्रकृति में सर्वथा लीन हो जाना। प्रकृति का ब्रह्म में लय (लीन) हो जाना ही प्रलय है। यह संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड ही प्रकृति कही गई है। इसे ही शक्ति कहते हैं। हिन्दू शास्त्रों में प्रलय के चार प्रकार बताए गए हैं- नित्य, नैमित्तिक, द्विपार्थ और प्राकृत। एक अन्य पौराणिक गणना अनुसार यह क्रम है नित्य, नैमित्तक आत्यन्तिक और प्राकृतिक प्रलय।

प्रत्येक कल्प के अंत में एक प्रलय होता है, जबकि धरती पर से जीवन समाप्त हो जाता है। अब तक एक कल्प बीत चुका है- जिसे ब्रह्म कल्प कहा गया है। यह वाराह कल्प का प्रथम चरण चल रहा है। इसके बाद पद्म कल्प शुरू होगा।

एक कल्प को चार अरब बत्तीस करोड़ मानव वर्षों के बराबर का माना गया है। यह ब्रह्मा के एक दिवस या एक सहस्र महायुग (चार युगों के अनेक चक्र) के बराबर होता है। आधुनिक वैज्ञानिकों ने ब्रह्मांड की आयु अनुमानत: तेरह अरब वर्ष बताई है। चार अरब वर्ष पूर्व जीवन की उत्पत्ति मानी गई है।

दो कल्पों को मिलाकर ब्रह्मा की एक दिवस और रात्रि मानी गई है। यानी 259,200,000,000 वर्ष। ब्रह्मा के बारह मास से उनका एक वर्ष बनता है और सौ वर्ष ब्रह्मा की आयु होती है।

इस तरह ब्रह्मा के 15 वर्ष व्यतीत होने पर एक नैमित्तिक प्रलय होता है- फिर ब्रह्मा के 100 वर्ष व्यतीत होने पर तीसरा प्रलय होता है- जिसे द्विपार्थ कहा गया है। ब्रह्मा के 50 वर्ष को एक परार्ध कहा गया है। इस तरह दो परार्ध यानी एक महाकल्प। ब्रह्मा का एक कल्प पूरा होने पर प्रकृति, शिव और विष्णु की एक पलक गिर जाती है। अर्थात उनका एक क्षण पूरा हुआ, तब तीसरे प्रलय द्विपार्थ में मृत्युलोक में प्रलय शुरू हो जाता है।

फिर जब प्रकृति, विष्णु, शिव आदि की एक सहस्रबार पलकें गिर जाती हैं तब एक दंड पूरा माना गया है। ऐसे सौ दंडों का एक दिन 'प्रकृति' का एक दिन माना जाता है- तब चौथा प्रलय 'प्राकृत प्रलय' होता है- जब प्रकृति उस ईश्वर (ब्रह्म) में लीन हो जाती है।

अर्थात संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड भस्म होकर पुन: पूर्व की अवस्था में हो जाता है, जबकि सिर्फ ईश्वर ही विद्यमान रह जाते हैं। न ग्रह होते हैं, न नक्षत्र, न अग्नि, न जल, न वायु, न आकाश और न जीवन। अनंत काल के बाद पुन: सृष्टि प्रारंभ होती है।

जो जन्मा है वह मरेगा- पेड़, पौधे, प्राणी, मनुष्य, पितर और देवताओं की आयु नियुक्त है, उसी तरह समूचे ब्रह्मांड की भी आयु है। इस धरती, सूर्य, चंद्र सभी की आयु है।

छोटी-मोटी प्रलय और उत्पत्ति तो चलती ही रहती है। किंतु जब महाप्रलय होता है तो सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्मांड वायु की शक्ति से एक ही जगह खिंचाकर एकत्रित हो भस्मीभूत हो जाता है। तब प्रकृति अणु वाली हो जाती है अर्थात सूक्ष्मातिसूक्ष्म अणुरूप में बदल जाती है।

1.नित्य प्रलय : वेंदांत के अनुसार जीवों की नित्य होती रहने वाली मृत्यु को नित्य प्रलय कहते हैं। जो जन्म लेते हैं उनकी प्रति दिन की मृत्यु अर्थात प्रतिपल सृष्टी में जन्म और मृत्य का चक्र चलता रहता है।

2.आत्यन्तिक प्रलय : आत्यन्तिक प्रलय योगीजनों के ज्ञान के द्वारा ब्रह्म में लीन हो जाने को कहते हैं। अर्थात मोक्ष प्राप्त कर उत्पत्ति और प्रलय चक्र से बाहर निकल जाना ही आत्यन्तिक प्रलय है।

3.नैमित्तिक प्रलय : वेदांत के अनुसार प्रत्येक कल्प के अंत में होने वाला तीनों लोकों का क्षय या पूर्ण विनाश हो जाना नैमित्तिक प्रलय कहलाता है। पुराणों अनुसार जब ब्रह्मा का एक दिन समाप्त होता है, तब विश्व का नाश हो जाता है। चार हजार युगों का एक कल्प होता है। ये ब्रह्मा का एक दिन माना जाता है। इसी प्रलय में धरती या अन्य ग्रहों से जीवन नष्ट हो जाता है।

नैमत्तिक प्रलयकाल के दौरान कल्प के अंत में आकाश से सूर्य की आग बरसती है। इनकी भयंकर तपन से सम्पूर्ण जलराशि सूख जाती है। समस्त जगत जलकर नष्ट हो जाता है। इसके बाद संवर्तक नाम का मेघ अन्य मेघों के साथ सौ वर्षों तक बरसता है। वायु अत्यन्त तेज गति से सौ वर्ष तक चलती है।

4.प्राकृत प्रलय : ब्राह्मांड के सभी भूखण्ड या ब्रह्माण्ड का मिट जाना, नष्ट हो जाना या भस्मरूप हो जाना प्राकृत प्रलय कहलाता है। वेदांत के अनुसार प्राकृत प्रलय अर्थात प्रलय का वह उग्र रूप जिसमें तीनों लोकों सहित महतत्त्व अर्थात प्रकृति के पहले और मूल विकार तक का विनाश हो जाता है और प्रकृति भी ब्रह्म में लीन हो जाती है अर्थात संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड शून्यावस्था में हो जाता है। न जल होता है, न वायु, न अग्नि होती है और न आकाश और ना अन्य कुछ।

पुराणों अनुसार प्राकृतिक प्रलय ब्रह्मा के सौ वर्ष बीतने पर अर्थात ब्रह्मा की आयु पूर्ण होते ही सब जल में लय हो जाता है। कुछ भी शेष नहीं रहता। जीवों को आधार देने वाली ये धरती भी उस अगाध जलराशि में डूबकर जलरूप हो जाती है। उस समय जल अग्नि में, अग्नि वायु में, वायु आकाश में और आकाश महतत्व में प्रविष्ट हो जाता है। महतत्व प्रकृति में, प्रकृति पुरुष में लीन हो जाती है।

उक्त चार प्रलयों में से नैमित्तिक एवं प्राकृतिक महाप्रलय ब्रह्माण्डों से सम्बन्धित होते हैं तथा शेष दो प्रलय देहधारियों से सम्बन्धित हैं।
